MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES IN THE BERKSHIRES

01
Help with Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are conditions characterized by persistent disturbances in eating behavior, such as restrictive eating and bingeing, and associated distressing thoughts and emotions, like preoccupations with food, weight or shape. Several, especially anorexia and bulimia, are more common in young women, but they can all occur at any age and affect any gender.
02
Help with Self-Harm/Self-Injurious Behaviors
Self-harm is any behavior that involves hurting yourself on purpose. It can be a sign of emotional distress and/or a coping mechanism. Although it isn't the same as considering/attempting suicide, someone who is self-harming may be at increased risk of feeling suicidal.

03
Help with Anxiety
Experiencing anxiety about stressful circumstances is normal. However, people with anxiety disorders often feel persistent and excessive worry and fear. For some people, anxiety disorders involve sudden episodes of intense anxiety and/or fear that peak within minutes (panic attacks).
04
Help with Depression
Depression (or major depressive disorder) causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in your favorite activities. It can result in a variety of emotional and physical problems, such as changes in appetite and sleep patterns, and can decrease your ability to function at school, work, and home.

06
Help with Trauma/PTSD
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster or a sexual assault. Symptoms can include reexperiencing the traumatic event, avoiding situations or people that trigger memories, and being on edge.
